The more we learn…

You may be wondering what the heck I mean with “The More We Learn The Less We Know”. It is something I came up with after seeing it in practice way too many times. I mean way too many times!

Humans, we think we are pretty smart. The smart ones of us, they really think they are smart. The really smart ones of us, well, I don’t know what they think because I am not one of those folks but I would like to think that they think that maybe mankind is only so smart and the smarter we get, the more we find out that we aren’t as smart as we thought we were. That’s a lot of smart and a lot of thinking but I digress…

Let me give you several examples:

Astronomy. It seems I read on an almost daily basis about some new discovery we make that blows away most, if not all, of the theories about that particular subject. Black holes acting differently, Quasars grouped much closer than we thought possible, super massive objects that shouldn’t exist, and more. The more we learn, the less we know.

Another example, the medical industry. Just the other day I was reading an article about a new discovery of how the brain interacts with the immune system. This was something doctors and researchers never thought existed. The more we learn, the less we know.

Of course, we have to look at our daily lives as well. When do we not learn something that we always thought was different and then some lightbulb goes on in our heads and you know what, the more we learn the less we know.

This, of course, is all about change! Change is a great thing that can be both easy and very difficult! You know what though, change is going to happen no matter how we try and stop it. Instead, embrace it! Why the heck not? Grab life and give it a hug and say a huge thank you because you have another day to say “I learned new things today and I know even less than I thought I did!”

Let’s go learn some more and give change a hug!

  1. I’m thinking that the more I think about thinking the less the thinking makes sense. You are right, though, the world seems to be full of wonders just waiting to be ‘discovered’ and it’s time we embrace that.
