A few days ago I was reading Jason Snell’s article about the 10 year anniversary of the iPad. He referenced a video of the iPad keynote, given by Steve Jobs. The link takes you to the Apple Archive website.
I watched the entire keynote (again) and I was happy to see all the content was included. No muted songs, etc. I started looking around the site and found an absolute treasure trove of Apple history!
Well, a couple of days later I was browsing the site again and found that all the videos had disappeared! After some research, I found this. Like the author, I agree that Apple was a bit heavy handed here. My hope is someone at Apple, that can make the decision, sees the site and decides it is a good thing to have a complete history of the company. Especially since the company doesn’t have it.
The Apple Archive is basically a love letter to Apple products. It is a way for folks to view the history of the company and products, and if you’re old enough, relive some of the announcements of your favorite products.
Tim Cook, please, please approve the use of all things Apple on the Apple Archive! In fact, contribute to it, so it becomes ever more special. Everything in this site, especially the work, is why Apple is (can be) special and why Apple exists.
